Guanajuato, Mexico

Guanajuato, Mexico
Living in the city of Guanajuato is nothing like living the Gringo Landias or Gringo Gulches of San Miguel de Allende or Puerto Vallarta. No information exists in book form to guide the potential expat to a new life in central Mexico. Expatriating to Guanajuato is different and unique. Unlike San Miguel de Allende or Puerto Vallarta, there is not a huge gringo community here that acts as a support buffer for “newbies.” Nor is English as widely spoken as it is in other areas where expats live. Doug and Cindi Bower spell out the differences between living in Guanajuato and living in other areas where expats have traditionally congregated. They offer a survival manual for the potential expat.

My family wants to go to an all inclusive resort in Mexico, during late July. Do you know of any well-priced All Inclusive resorts that are not the European Plan, and serve fairly good food? Thank you so much for your input. Also we are only looking at resorts that are in safe areas and on the beach. Thank you again.

The Royal Resorts are fantastic and family friendly.

We are going on a weekend vacation to Mexico. Our daughter wants to bring her best friend who is a daughter of a family we have been friends with for years. Do we need anything specific to take her into Mexico with us?

We all have passports. She has a birth certificate and a student ID from her school with her photo.

If you are FLYING, she will need a passport. otherwise, she needs her birth certificate. YOU must have a letter signed by BOTH PARENTS and notarized giving you permission to take the child with you to Mexico. See website below and scroll down to section on "Minors".

I have 2 kids ages 5 and 6 and we have never been on vacation. We would like to go to the beach but it doesn't necessarily have to be. Any links to cheap sites would be great. Thanks.

Try http://www.cheap-fun-family-travel.com they have great ideas for the budget minded families

They even have ideas on having great staycations

I've been reading about problems tourists have in Costa Rica also and I think if we stay away from these places maybe we could send a message.
I was in costa rica 2 years ago when 4 gunmen stormed a bank in Monte Verde and 7 (i think) people were killed. if they want my tourist dollars they are going to have to make changes.

I feel wayyyyy safer in Acapulco than I would in Los Angeles!!! Besides… most of those warm vacation spots rely heavily on tourist dollars, and without that money flowing in, the conditions in some of those countries, including the violent crime rate, would get much worse!

My mom is a member or travel agent for this company and if she stays at a nice hotel that costs about 400 or so, she will only pay 70…..Anyways, how can she get airfare? We are planning a trip to Acapulco and tickets for a 1 stop are around 700. What can we expect to pay? Can we book our flight through other companies giving the IOTA #????????

If she's a travel agent, then this should be easy as pie for her to sort out. Good luck with it.
