It depends on where you live. But for family such as your's, most popular vacation spots in the US are:

EAST COAST:
- Myrtle Beach, SC: called Grand Strand, very long stretch of sandy beach with dinner shows, water parks, and other family friendly activities.
- Orlando, FL: theme park capital of the world with nice sandy beaches to boot.
- Williamsburg, VA: for educational diversion. About an hour drive to Virginia Beach and 2 hours to Washington, DC.

WEST:
- San Diego, CA: good beaches, lots of theme parks, nice weather, and only 2 hours drive to LA or Disneyland.
- Los Angeles, CA: For theme parks and beaches, I think Orlando is nicer, but LA offers Hollywood and access to San Diego and Santa Barbara (both 2 hour driving distance).
- Oahu, HI: famous beaches, lots of water activities (snorkeling, surf lessons, dolphins) great hiking. Look for packaged trips to save money or rent a time share (e.g., Resort Quest).

Other recommendations: while not as cheap as suggestions above, you might be able to find deals on cruises (e.g., Caribbean, Florida). And Mexico sports a number of inexpensive destinations by the beach (e.g., Los Cabos, Ixtapa, Cancun, Acapulco, Cozumel).

How about the National Parks? Here's a link:
http://www.nps.gov/ You can get a fair sized tent at a sporting goods store. I'm glad to see that now's a good time to take the kids to see somethings. We did when we could.

Depends on where you live at, but you could go camping. Most campsites only charge about 20-25 dollars a night if your gonna stay in a tent. Hope this helps.

If you are FLYING, she will need a passport. otherwise, she needs her birth certificate. YOU must have a letter signed by BOTH PARENTS and notarized giving you permission to take the child with you to Mexico. See website below and scroll down to section on "Minors".
